Ethnic Models not just Chocolate models
Ethnic modeling is not as easy to define as it was say 15 year ago. Within the past 10 years, the definition of who is an ethnic model has changed drastically. Before, an ethnic model was consi¬dered anyone who wasn’t “Super Model” “debutante” looking, with blond hair and blue eyes. Now the glamour model can be blond-haired and blue-eyed, a brunette with brown eyes, or a redhead with green eyes. So basically this means that today, an ethnic model is anyone who isn’t considered Caucasian, meaning anyone of Spanish, Asian, or African descent.
Ethnic models technically are not a separate category, in that they are not handled by separate agencies or departments; they are handled by the same bookers and agents as all other fashion models. But if you are an ethnic model, it will affect every aspect of your career, in both positive and negative ways.
